WinEject kann die Schublade von CD-Rom Laufwerken öffnen und schließen. Außerdem kann es andere Medien, wie z.B. ZIP-Disketten, auszuwerfen. Diese Funktionen können über ein kleines Icon im System-Tray neben der Uhr aufgerufen werden. Es lassen sich auch Tastenkombinationen zum Öffnen und Schließen festlegen. Desweiteren kann WinEject Laufwerke automatisch beim Beenden von Windows öffnen, so daß CD's nicht mehr im Laufwerk vergessen werden.
