Der Abbruch der Internetverbindung während des sharens - und für diesen sorgen die meisten Provider nach 24 Stunden -führt insbesondere auf Win9x/ME-Systemen zu üblen Auswirkungen. Im ungünstigsten Falle werden unzählige DFÜ-Einwahlfenster geöffnet, die das System und Emule letztendlich lahmlegen. Eine automatische Wiedereinwahl (DFÜ-Einstellung) ist so nicht möglich. Sharing Ghost soll hier Abhilfe schaffen.
